Late one night, I found myself skimming through past entries, trying to figure out which past review should I follow up on. Just as my eyes were about to finally glaze over and I was ready to click off, the name Donny's Girls caught my eye.

Always a fan of Donovan Phillips, I clicked open the post and read the contents with a wry smile. I knew what my next step would be in order to provide an in-dept look at this hit amateur site. I caught up with Donovan Phillips, owner of DonnysGirls.com and via email got the scoop on his three star rated site.

Wanderlustgirlie: How did you pop into the industry?

Donny: As a hobby photographer, I was surfing newsgroups and contacting the big named sites at the time (1997) to see where they purchased their photo content. ATK (www.amkingdom.com) liked the samples I sent and started buying from me. Then I started my own MSN Group and it grew to the point where I decided to start my own membership sites.

Wanderlustgirlie: What made you start an adult site?

Donny: The members of my MSN group wanted to see more of my work. I wanted to share it. I also wanted to be able to do it for a full time living. So the sites went live, I got some help from clients, a link on sex.com from Gary Kremen (the owner) and some great links on PersianKitty.com and the rest is history.

Wanderlustgirlie: To date, what sites do you operate?

Donny: I own www.DonnysGirls.com (aka www.NakedCollegeGirls.tv), www.AmateurMarket.net, www.DonnysCoeds.com, www.DonnysRamblings.com (my personal blog), www.DonovanPhillips.com, and am a minority partner in www.TeenKarma.com, www.TeenKeera.com, and www.TeenChloe.com .

Wanderlustgirlie: What are your perspectives regarding the niches you cover?

Donny: I love my niche: I cover college girls mostly (although I photograph "mature" models too when I can find them). In my area there's nobody else around doing what I do. Most of the time I'm interviewing brand new girls who have never once considered posing nude in their life. They'll end up posing for me most of the time. You'll notice on my sites it says "college girls ages 18-70". A lot of people ask me about that "to 70" part. The reason I put that up there is if you go on a community college campus you'll see women into their 70s taking classes. The oldest model I've posted inside my site is a 63 year old. Her body definitely doesn't compete with a 22 year old but the fact that she was confident enough to show it to the world is sexy to me. I've even photographed a local professor.

The majority of my models ( probably 90%) are 18-24 though. I'm flattered they trust me enough to let me photograph them for Penthouse/Hustler style photos.

Wanderlustgirlie: Online porn is blooming inexorably and the competition is becoming steep. Just what seperates your sites from your competition?

Donny: I provide commentary with every update inside DonnysGirls.com. And I update 5 days a week. The commentary lets members in on some inside information about each model. I don't make up BS stories, either. I also have a message board for members to give feedback. Occasionally my models get on there and post too.

Wanderlustgirlie: One of the most notable factors of your sites is the themes. How do you choose the themes?

Donny: I like shooting in my own home. That's been the sort of "style" I've developed. I don't set up elaborate props. I have models sit on my couch, in my living room. I have them pose on my own bed. I have them shower in the same shower I use on a daily basis. Occasionally I'll take them to a few of my favorite outdoor spots. I just like to keep things real. I hate fake "sets".

Wanderlustgirlie: With regards to the story line, how do you come up with the story lines and who comes up with it?

Donny: Nothing is made up. We ask the models all about themselves. Anything I post about a model is true. The questions I ask them come from member suggestions. I also love telling members how the shoot went, anything interesting that happened, etc.

Wanderlustgirlie: With quite a number of sites under your name, how often do you shoot photoshoots?

Donny: 3 to 5 days a week my fiancee and I photograph new models. I interview new models almost daily.

Wanderlustgirlie: Being a photographer yourself, what are your views with the different photographers you've worked with?

Donny: I've worked with Brian Bradley (www.wanton.com) and recently, Aaron Matthews. I chat with many photographers including greats like J. Stephen Hicks. Photographers are usually great people. I say "usually" because there are always exceptions.

Wanderlustgirlie: Most of your sites, especially Donny's Girls is notorious for showcasing seductive models. How do you choose models for the site?

Donny: I've been doing this a long time, so I try to pick out models I think my members will enjoy. Sometimes I'll post one I personally like a lot, but the majority of the time model selection is based on what members like. I rely on member feedback quite a bit.

Wanderlustgirlie: What about your members, is there anything in particular that you like about them?

Donny: They enjoy "the girl next door" like me. They respect the models and realize girls aren't "sluts" or "whores" simply because they enjoy exhibitionism and showing off every inch of their bodies.

Wanderlustgirlie: What do you dislike about them?

Donny: There are never enough. :) I need every legal aged adult on the planet subscribing.

Wanderlustgirlie: What else can we hope to expect from Donovan Phillips?

Donny: Lately we've been adding more video. I've been having my fiancee do a lot of the filming because I think it's sexy to hear a woman interviewing another woman and then having her strip naked. Yum!

I also plan to open more "solo" girl sites, focusing on one model. I plan to include all of the new sites for "gold" members and not charge them anything extra to join.
