Man arrested in Germany for being obsessed with emergency hotline voice
DUESSELDORF, Germany (AFP) - A man in Germany who said he had "fallen in love" with the voice of an emergency services operator was taken into custody for repeatedly calling the hotline.
The 45-year-old called the 110 emergency number from several telephone booths in the western city of Duesseldorf until he was picked up by police.
He explained to the officers that there had not been an emergency but that he had found the voice on the other end of the line "so sexy".

Coach Allegedly Paid Player to Hit Boy
A T-ball coach allegedly paid one of his players $25 to hurt an 8-year-old mentally disabled teammate so he wouldn't have to put the boy in the game, police said Friday.
Mark R. Downs Jr., 27, of Dunbar, is accused of offering one of his players the money to hit the boy in the head with a baseball, police said. Witnesses told police Downs didn't want the boy to play in the game because of his disability.

Human Feces Powers Rwandan Prison
Imagine eating food that was cooked using natural gas generated from your own human waste. Thousands of prisoners in Rwanda don't have to imagine it -- they live it.
Prisoners' feces is converted into combustible "biogas," or methane gas that can be used for cooking. It has reduced by 60 percent the annual wood-fuel costs which would otherwise reach near $1 million, according to Silas Lwakabamba, rector of the Kigali Institute of Science, Technology and Management, where the technology was developed.

Mother charged with injecting toddler with feces
A former pediatric nurse has been charged with trying to poison her toddler son by injecting human feces into his bloodstream.
Stephanie McMullen, 29, was charged Thursday with assault and reckless endangerment counts and released on bail.
Doctors at the hospital where McMullen worked alerted police that her 22-month-old son had been hospitalized six times since he was 4 months old for "serious, potentially life-threatening illnesses," acting police chief Lt. Col. Scott McLaren said.
